        <p>This article addresses the problem of achieving adequacy of translation taking into account the specific character of images and related activity programs of the cultural types involved in the communicationprocess. The article looks into the features of legal discourse, points out the differences in different countries’ legal systems and describes the difficulties in choosing the right equivalents caused by these differences. Examples of English and American legal terminology are provided. Based on these examples, the author concludes that it is possible to vary and combine different methods of translation depending on the presence of linguistic and cultural peculiarities of the foreign text in the text of translation.</p>
