      <abstract xml:lang="en">
        <p>The article shows how the studying of Latin can form the professional competence of linguists. Being the basis of European vocabulary, words of Latin origin still remain the terminological foundation for the most of scientific fields. The authors highlight the idea that Latin studying can be useful not only for future linguists but also for non-linguistics students. Moreover, the author dwells upon the interdisciplinary connection, interdisciplinary approach and the notion of language competence. In conclusion they describe the resource “Latin borrowings in English” uploaded into VLE Moodle of the Faculty of foreign languages.</p>
