The results of theoretical analysis of the process of globalization and its influence on such sphere of social life as culture is presented in the article from the point of view of such sciences as sociology, philosophy, culturology, intercultural communication and linguodidactics. On the basis of its results the author is making argumentative conclusions about the growing role of foreign languages and expressing suggestions concerning the further directions of development and investigation in the sphere of foreign language methodology and practical teaching of foreign languages in the conditions of overall globalization.
