        <p>The article is devoted to the project of an English- to- Russian translation textbook based on English proverbs and quotations. Special attention is given to the characteristic features of proverbs and quotations which enable them to function as an effective teaching tool. The principles of organization and the structure of the textbook are considered. Some recommendations are given on the use of the textbook in the student groups of different levels of language training, as well as in case of self-study work.</p>
