The article discusses the value of the course "Publishing translated literature" in the process of the development of special competencies of students majoring in Publishing. The article discusses philosophical and pedagogical aspects of teaching applied disciplines of publishing and the conditions for the success of this process: motivation of students, appealing to the personal experience of students, formation of the humanistic views on the process of editorial review of the translated text and choosing the best materials for publication. The translations of Oscar Wilde’s novel “The picture of Dorian Grey” are used as examples.
