The paper considers the concept of "morale boosting and motivation increase" in the system of higher education and presents the author's interpretation of the terms "morale boosting","motivation increase" and "socially useful personality". The author compares the Soviet and current systems of morale boosting and motivation increase by analyzing state strategic documents and author's concepts in the field of education from 1999 to 2015. The paper defines goals of the morale-boosting and motivationincrease processes in the institution of higher education today and analyzes personalities of the students as subjects of morale-boosting and motivation-increase activities.
