The article analyzes some modern characteristics of the local educational environment correlated with the discipline "Foreign language" and defines the contribution of this environment to the evolution of the students of a multidisciplinary higher educational institution. The experience of using teaching resources is described, and the principles on which these resources should be developed have been formulated. Innovative forms of educational materials presentation on the basis of multimodal texts are also considered.
