This article discusses the most effective ways for the development of soft skills while teaching English for non-linguistic students. Soft skills are communicativeness, critical thinking, decision making and skills for prompt finding information and its analysis. Soft skills could be developed while doing various tasks on reading in a foreign language. Various methods of foreign language literature learning are analyzed (the analysis of the extract from the novel «Lord of the flies» by W.Golding is given).
