Based on the poll results the author highlights that teacher’s linguistic competence develops when he/she uses in practice what he learned during linguistics and liberal arts classes at University and prepares for his classes as a foreign language teacher.</abstract>

          <abstract lang="ENG">Lexical competence formation is an essential part of teaching communication within ESP course. Nowadays due to globalization processes in education it is vital not only to know glossary of specialist terms but also be able to use it. This article is concerned with the main approaches to learning glossary via various Internet-resources and difficulties which students might face during vocabulary learning. Using Internet-resources, such as online dictionaries, corresponds to the modern tendency of exploiting Internt-based educational materials and can serve as an effective base for enhancement and usage of general and professional vocabulary. Thus, it stimulates lexical competence formation in students from technical departments.</abstract>

          <abstract lang="ENG">The article shows how the studying of Latin can form the professional competence of linguists. Being the basis of European vocabulary, words of Latin origin still remain the terminological foundation for the most of scientific fields. The authors highlight the idea that Latin studying can be useful not only for future linguists but also for non-linguistics students. Moreover, the author dwells upon the interdisciplinary connection, interdisciplinary approach and the notion of language competence. In conclusion they describe the resource “Latin borrowings in English” uploaded into VLE Moodle of the Faculty of foreign languages.</abstract>

          <abstract lang="ENG">This article addresses the problem of achieving adequacy of translation taking into account the specific character of images and related activity programs of the cultural types involved in the communicationprocess. The article looks into the features of legal discourse, points out the differences in different countries’ legal systems and describes the difficulties in choosing the right equivalents caused by these differences. Examples of English and American legal terminology are provided. Based on these examples, the author concludes that it is possible to vary and combine different methods of translation depending on the presence of linguistic and cultural peculiarities of the foreign text in the text of translation.</abstract>

          <artTitle lang="ENG">The peculiarities of the transfer phenomenon in teaching French as a second foreign language</artTitle>

          <abstract lang="ENG">The article considers the phenomenon of transfer that occurs in the process of learning a second foreign language. This phenomenon can be either positive or negative - in the latter case interference takes place. In this article, the features of interference are investigated on three levels of the language’s linguistic system: phonetics, grammar, and vocabulary. On each level, the major forms, reasons and consequences of transfer are analyzed. Based on this research, the author concludes that the goal of the teacher is to analyze the similarities and differences in the systems of associated languages, which would allow them to predict the possible course of transfer.</abstract>

          <abstract lang="ENG">Learning of misleading words is one of the motivating factors for students as it reveals their knowledge, activates mechanisms of associative thinking and encourage work with dictionaries. The work with “false friends” helps to understand important mechanisms of meaning transformation, multidimensional semantic relations of synonyms and antonyms, polysemy and 160 homonymy. Therefore, learning misleading words can be a starting point for the systematic study of vocabulary.</abstract>

The author considers information services used in teaching and are gives examples of additional resources for this method. Besides, the paper deals with fundamental issues of Russian modern education system focused on the formation of certain skills in students. The author notes that school should organize in-service training of teachers and school support staff.</abstract>

          <abstract lang="ENG">The authors deal with the quality assessment problems in foreign language teaching after Russia’s accession to the WTO. The paper also shows that Russian education system is undergoing great changes. In addition to consideration of the advantages of Chinese foreign language learning methodology, the authors also pay attention to the Russian educational standard of the 3rd generation. In conclusion the importance of implementation of new approaches for foreign language teaching and the creation of the control system on the basis of the international assessment methods are considered.</abstract>

          <abstract lang="ENG">The main content of this research is the analysis of the concept of " bilingualism " and in particular the characteristics of bilingual education in Europe, Africa , Asia and Russia . It is noted that this phenomenon has a long history. The features of the application of bilingual method in learning foreign languages are singled out and described. Through comparative analysis of modern pedagogical literature, the author identifies a number of aspects of bilingualism, revealing the peculiarities of this model of teaching at a modern period.</abstract>

The author examines disadvantages of the Russian educational system, which impede students’ participation in Academic Mobility Programs. The lack of language skills including academic English skills and the lack of academic competence are two serious limitations on the opportunity. According to the author, both these factors are related to the shortcomings of Russian system of higher education, in particular, the lack of academic writing courses.</abstract>
