          <abstract lang="ENG">The main trend of new educational programs in the field of «tourism» is manifested in the search for a balanced combination of theoretical and practical aspects of training. Considerable attention is paid to the principle of public-private partnership in the development of tourism, as well as the design of regional business programs in tourism. Topical tasks are building students’ active position, their involvement in research as an essential component of educational process, integration of various scientific fields and disciplines, as well as the development of personal qualities, their competence in the field of collective labor. Modern educational standards, in the authors’ opinion, provide the future employee of the tourism industry with all the necessary competencies. It is particularly necessary to highlight project activity in training graduates. An employee of the tourism sector should be able to implement various projects in tourism industry, relevant to the modern stage of tourism development, taking into account both global trends in tourism and resource potential of a particular region. Experience shows high efficiency of the project method in the course of preparation and writing of final works by students. When using this method, it is necessary to focus on the situation characteristic of the modern stage of tourism development in the country and the region. Students are offered tasks on the design of programs on branded Russian tourist routes: «Golden ring of Russia», «Great Volga way», «Silver necklace», «Caucasus — the birthplace of hospitality», «Russian estates», «Amber region», «Golden ring of Altai», «Semi-Precious ring of the Urals», «Eastern ring of Russia», «Red route», «Great silk road», «Great tea way», «Trans-Siberian Express».</abstract>

          <abstract lang="ENG">The article deals with the development of modern educational environment related to the search for the parameters of development models. The interrelation and mutual influence of information and communication technologies and value orientations of the person is emphasized. In the modern conditions of the social and communicative environment, personal goals of the individual are important, which form an orientation towards the education of the person himself in a certain profession and social environment. Internet technology and network communication are changing not only the algorithm of the educational environment, the semantic fullness of the knowledge and its usage, but also stimulate the search of education model parameters. Modern conditions demand the development of the sphere of physical culture and sports education at the University. The most promising way of modernizing the educational process in the physical education of the student's personality is associated with the development of motivational and value perception of students in physical and sports culture. The article based on the data of sociological surveys substantiates the need for active participation of students in University sports activities. Knowledge of the theory and methods of physical culture, active participation in sports events contribute to the development of motor skills and form a stable need for the development of physical education and sports values.</abstract>

          <abstract lang="ENG">The tempting illusion of effortless translations readily obtained online, in addition to the perpetual search for simple ways of successful performance with maximum ease and minimum time when assigned to tasks outside of the domain they specialise in, might develop into an obstacle preventing the students from working productively to master grammar and structure of a foreign language, both being vital as the essentials for building up orderly knowledge in the field. A series of experiments involving online engines from the websites run by the most widely known translation companies (Babylon, Promt, Systran) and some Internet giants (Microsoft and Bing, Google, Yandex) to find out the true power of machine translation has clearly demonstrated that, in spite of the continuous improvements in computer technologies and techniques for machine translation, whose great future is undeniable, so far the online translations are well below the minimal expected standards, and cannot be used for any practical purpose by people with insufficient command of the language, or lacking the appropriate expertise for editing and correcting such translations. Electronic dictionaries, while larger and more convenient than the printed ones, are incapable of translating by themselves, same as the semi-automatic translation systems (such as Trados) designed with a view to being used by those who possess the required skills and competence, thus remaining unsuitable for the category of learners in question. The results of the research clearly testify to the fact that at present there is no alternative to continuous work, hard and systematic, on studying the fundamental basics of translation to successfully acquire the minimum knowledge in a foreign language needed by the prospective specialist in the future.</abstract>

          <artTitle lang="ENG">Comprehensive system of communicative competence assessment of management students (on the basis of the German language)</artTitle>

          <abstract lang="ENG">This article is devoted to the problem of assessing the level of management students' foreign language communicative competence. Based on a philosophical definition of a criterion, the criterion for assessment of management students' foreign language communicative competence is defined. The article also provides the definition of an assessment criteria system as well as the grounds for the importance of developing such a comprehensive system, which includes both continuous and final assessment. The main suggested control points are the current, intermediate and final controls, where each type of control includes several components. The article also contains the assessment criteria of a monologue and speech interaction. It is important to note that this system of assessment criteria reflects the effectiveness and results of the content component implementation in the learning process while the comprehensive assessment system is focused on a linear, systematic, and at the same time integral and integrated nature of the process. The article presents the results of the assessment system development of the management students' level of communicative competence in foreign language, which has been tested at St. Petersburg State University in German language courses. The developed methodology not only allows to register intermediate control points and the final results of the learning process but also maximum objective and accurate monitoring of the process from beginning to end, where the system is so flexible and transparent that it gives the possibility to make necessary changes, as well as add or remove components. The authors of the article conclude that the complex nature of the system also contributes to the change in professor’s role, which corresponds to the last tendencies in language studies developments.</abstract>

          <abstract lang="ENG">The article is devoted to communicative leadership development of students majoring in management. Dwelling upon the theoretical and practical research reviewed, the author states that there is a need for innovation in language education of Master degree students majoring in management. The ability to communicate effectively and be communicative leaders is highlighted as a prerequisite for future upper executive management. Considering own pedagogical experience and scientific publications analyzed, the author suggests introduction of content and language integrated learning (CLIL) and professionally-oriented tasks into “Foreign Language for Professional Purposes” course. Examples of micro-situations stimulating professionally-oriented interaction of students majoring in management are given. The author concludes that the tasks developed contribute to personal qualities and professional skills of future communicative leaders.</abstract>

          <artTitle lang="ENG">Intercultural communication within the framework of tandem projects of international higher school cooperation</artTitle>

          <abstract lang="ENG">The work is devoted to the intercultural communication in the process of learning foreign languages in the modern information-educational environment. Cross-cultural issues of language learning are analyzed and their solutions are proposed. The research of the tandem projects effectiveness was conducted. The main methods of research are the analysis of the scientific literature in the field of foreign language teaching methodology, psychology and pedagogy, the study and generalization of the experience in teaching foreign languages in tandem groups, as well as the analysis of the students’ educational activity products, teacher observation, questionnaires and interviews. The purpose of the tandem network is building virtual communication, aimed at the mastery of their native language tandem partner and building intercultural competence in the process of mutual learning with the help of new information and communication technologies. Article submissions are of practical importance for the foreign language teachers since they contain recommendations for conducting tandem projects and requirements for their participants.</abstract>

          <artTitle lang="ENG">Integrating corpus-based approaches into training translators in the sphere of professional communication</artTitle>

          <abstract lang="ENG">The fact that translators do not use corpora on a regular basis in their professional activities despite the growing popularity of corpus linguistics inspired the authors to focus their research on practicability, potential and prospects of using corpora in the teaching of specialised translation, namely translation in financial sphere. The literature review shows that using corpora in the teaching of specialised translation helps students to develop translating skills and experience in referring to corpora and making them indispensable resources in translation practice. This paper considers key terms of corpus linguistics and evaluates the relevance of some linguistic corpora for the purpose of translators’ training and translation practice. As there is no universal corpus containing specialized terminology for different professional domains, the task of finding a relevant corpus becomes an important issue. The NOW corpus and context dictionaries Linguee and Reverso Context are shown to be relevant for Translation of Business Documentation course. The exercises for training translator students at different stages of translation process (pre-translation and text analysis, translation, and editing) were carefully studied and supplemented with recommendations on using corpora where appropriate. Training exercises based on corpus data have been developed and some of them are described in the paper as examples. They should be tested in the nearest future and the approach should be extended to other professional domains of the English language.</abstract>

          <abstract lang="ENG">The paper analyzes the reports presented at the conference «Week of Science – 2017». This international scientific conference is annually held by Peter the Great St. Petersburg Polytechnic University. In 2017 the Higher School of International Educational Programs organized the work of two sections: «The Quality of Teaching Natural Science and Humanities» and «Methods of Teaching Russian as a Foreign Language». Scientific and methodological reports were presented at each section. All the reports with their contents in the article are devoted to the topical questions of university pedagogy and reflect scientific novelty. The problem of the quality of teaching is the focal point of the theory and methodology of vocational education. Indeed, the management of the economic and social processes of the information-oriented society, the development of economics based on knowledge are impossible without qualitatively trained specialists. According to A.I. Subetto’s quality management triad, there are three aspects of quality assurance training in university such as the quality of educational programs, the quality of the educational process and the quality of graduates. Therefore the conference reports were focused on distance educational technologies, the quality of the teaching staff and extracurricular activities forming the graduates’ frame of references. The Russian language teaching for foreign students is an important part in improving the image of Russia in the world. It is one of the main elements of the educational services export system to which the Russian government pays special attention. The conference reports highlighted various aspects of the Russian language teaching as a foreign language. The problems of monitoring the level of Russian as a foreign language in the educational and professional sphere are essential for the improvement of the Russian testing system recognized by the world educational community. One of the important aspects of teaching Russian as a foreign language is oral speech teaching. It is the oral communication that has the main advantage of full-time language learning, it is the oral speech which is used for successful cross-cultural relations. Finally, it is impossible to learn Russian without understanding Russian culture. Thus building linguoculturological competence ensures successful Russian language teaching for foreign citizens.</abstract>

We consider the structure of the web syllabus and the principles of design, characterize briefly the main modules of the web language course program and its evaluation criteria, as well as categorize and analyze the web tools that are most often used for online publication of this digital educational resource. The online language course program has prerequisites for authentic communication in foreign language learning, contains meta-information, allowing language instructors to introduce new types of interactive tasks and two modules that make it very different from a published\printed version of the course, namely, the communicative module, allowing instantaneous feedback and demonstrative module allowing to share the best students’ works as examples to follow.</abstract>
