Modern character of international cooperation and cross-cultural communication is complicated by political, social, cultural processes caused by globalization and the opposition of civilization values. The society faces challenges related to preparing the younger generation to unexpected, often conflict-prone, complicated terms of international cooperation and communication. The intercultural approach as a soft power mechanism is to be applied in the educational environment of the university.</abstract>

          <abstract lang="ENG">The article is devoted to linguistic peculiarities of a mythologem in modern fiction. It gives a review of different approaches to the problem of interpretation of myth and mythologem in linguistic literature. Various linguistic means of mythologem represetation in fictional texts are considered. The analysis of the extracts from fiction reveals individual peculiarities of mythologem usage by different writers and allows to decode their intentions and to see the depth of the content in fictional texts. The importance of the research comes out of insufficiency of researches devoted to peculiarities of mythologems in modern English and American literature.</abstract>

The literature and relevant scientific studies on the topic are analysed. The article also represents the results of the survey considering the preferences of Russian viewers in terms of audiovisual news content. The authors pay special attention to the influence of mass media on the society and the elaboration of applicable translation strategy, based on the principles of adaptation, localization and standardization.</abstract>

Examples of different types of questions and ways of responding to them depending on the situation are given. Linguistic means of expression suitable for the particular type of communication are analysed.           <abstract lang="ENG">The article is based on literary examples from several European languages and focuses on principal cases of transforming idioms by writers to achieve an intended stylistic effect. As transformed idioms pose certain difficulties for a translator in terms of their identification and interpretation the author suggests some guidelines for translating these transformed idiomatic units to avoid the so called “translator’s idiomatic trap”.</abstract>

          <abstract lang="ENG">Сases of indefinite pronouns usage are considered, when the pronouns do not convey proper indefiniteness, but rather, to a greater or lesser extent, concretized indefiniteness. We propose to call such usage as conveyance of relative, or unidirectional indefiniteness. Cataphoric function of indefinite pronouns, the features of indefinite pronoun usage in “Isentences”, their combinations with proper names, adjectives, etc. were also examined.</abstract>

          <abstract lang="ENG">The study examines interpreters’ conduct in non-standard and high-level situations requiring immediate decision-making about the interpretation of profanities. The study stresses that the conscious use of profanities in presentations must be reflected in the interpretation, but as a rule, it should be done so in a somewhat defused form. This aspect of the practice of interpretation must be taken into account when training young interpreters.</abstract>

The examples of communicative tasks for pair work with a terminology glossary are given in classrooms, and the examples of electronic resource use are given as well.</abstract>

          <abstract lang="ENG">The article is focused on improving the quality of professional foreign language training of aviation specialists. Within the framework of intensive mode of aviation English teaching the possibility of mnemonics use in aviation English course books is examined. The following mnemonic methods are considered: memorization of initial letters of the necessary phrases, use of acronyms, rhyme, finding vivid associations with terms, drawing mind maps. The inclusion of mnemonic tasks into aviation English textbook will lead to their regular use in the learning process.</abstract>

Soft skills are communicativeness, critical thinking, decision making and skills for prompt finding information and its analysis. Soft skills could be developed while doing various tasks on reading in a foreign language. Various methods of foreign language literature learning are analyzed (the analysis of the extract from the novel «Lord of the flies» by W.Golding is given).</abstract>

Humanitarian globalization is analyzed as reflected in fundamental aspects of higher education, in the integration of humanitarian and technical subjects, organization of dialogue between cultures in the context of a technical university. Examples of humanity-oriented project activities are given.</abstract>
