The article deals with the main attributes of the convergent strategy of foreign language teacher training at pedagogical universities as an alternative to the traditional model. The convergent strategy is described as the implementation of an integration and differentiation approach to language teaching education at pedagogical universities. The article considers advantages of the strategy under analysis as well as components necessary to be reviewed.
