Speech etiquette as a factor of effective business communication

The article focuses on speech etiquette – an important aspect in teaching business English. Linguistic peculiarities of expressing politeness in business communication at lexical, grammatical and phonetic levels of speech are considered. Examples of different types of questions and ways of responding to them depending on the situation are given. Linguistic means of expression suitable for the particular type of communication are analysed. Special emphasis is placed on conversational formulas and intonation patterns typical of business communication.
