Teaching foreign language reading to university students: Experience of the French-speaking community of Belgium

The article considers the content and principles of teaching foreign language reading in higher education institutions of the French-speaking community of Belgium. In view of high requirements to the level of foreign languages command of university graduates the competency-based approach and the conditions for effective teaching of a foreign language were considered. The modern approaches and experience of foreign colleagues (metacognition, CLIL) from the point of view of their possible use in Russian universities were analyzed.
