Role and functions of scientific research methodology in the training of masters of Economy

The article discusses the main aspects of the impact of the discipline "Methodology of scientific research" on the quality of Master students’ training in "Economics". The problem is analyzed in relation to Federal state educational standards and Professional standards of the Ministry of labor of the Russian Federation. The syllabus of the course "Methodology of scientific research" aimed at the development of professionally-oriented competences has been formed. Aspects of the methodology use in economic research are characterized. Sections of the syllabus forming different groups of competencies are specified. The main functions of methodology in training Masters of economics are identified and discussed.
