Experience of video monologue use in teaching foreign languages in non-linguistic universities

This article discusses the use of one of the means of information and communication technologies, a video monologue, as an opportunity to optimize the process of learning a foreign language in a non-linguistic university. The article proves the relevance of the use of information and communication technologies in teaching a foreign language at the university, and the importance of maintaining a person-centered approach in education. In particular, video monologue is considered to be a special type of out-class activities monitoring information and communication technologies, which helps to maintain individual approach and at the same time promotes the rational use of classroom time in foreign language teaching. The article contains a description of the peculiarities of monologic utterance as a type of control of communicative skills in general, and the specific features of a video monologue, in particular. Special attention is paid to the advantages of this type of control, to the problems of its use in practice and the ways to overcome these problems. The most important part is the description of the experiment, which the author conducted in the process of teaching a foreign language at St. Petersburg Polytechnic University of Peter the Great. The article analyzes the data obtained during the experiment, the results of the survey, which the author conducted in the experimental group. On the basis of the research and the results obtained during the experiment, the author concludes that the use of video monologues in the process of teaching a foreign language is highly promising.
