Lexical component development of professional scientific medical students’ communication on the basis of foreign linguistic corpora

The article presents research results related to the methodological aspects of using the potential of corpus linguistics tools in educational activities. The article deals with linguistic corpora application for the formation and development of the lexical scientific communication component in the first year students of medical school at the «Foreign Language» discipline. Foreign language linguistic corpora Corpus of Contemporary American English (COCA) and British National Corpus (BNC) act as methodological tools. The potential of linguistic corpora as a tool for developing the lexical component of professional scientific communication is determined. Possible organizational forms, as well as variants of exercises and tasks aimed at developing the skills of processing linguistic corpora in order to form the lexical component of professional scientific communication, further determining the linguistic design of scientific professional text, are proposed. The effectiveness of the proposed exercises is confirmed by statistical data.
