Psycholinguistic features of building foreign language reading competence in students of technology

The article is devoted psycholinguistic peculiarities of building foreign language reading competence. The mechanisms of reading difficulties in building reader competence as well as their solutions are considered. Particular attention is paid to the problems of semantic and sensorimotor levels of reading. The conclusion is drawn that the gradual and purposeful acquisition of reader's competence on the basis of communicative exercises will help to improve the reading abilities of future engineers.
