The article deals with the theoretical aspects of cognitive independence formation. Cognitive independence is an integrative person’s quality, which is based on the intellectual abilities and skills, willingness and desire for independence, knowledge of cognitive activity methods, the activity, and adjustment of activities in accordance with the methodological aims. It has been analyzed that cognitive independence is manifested and gets its development through cognitive activity.
