Higher technological and vocational education plays an important role in the long-term progress and industrial development of Russia. Currently, there is a growing demand for Russian technical graduates, as the thoroughness of Russian education makes Russia attractive for foreign students who come to study at Russian universities from different countries. In recent years, much has been said about one of the key problems of vocational education, namely, about the adaptation of foreign students in the Russian education system. Paying particular attention to this problem, the authors identify a number of activities that contribute to the successful adaptation of foreign students, namely, developing an understanding of the importance of adaptation, developing independence, awakening interest in the host country, its cultural characteristics and the subject area of educational work of foreign students. As part of this study, we were able to get an idea of the problems of academic achievement of foreign students, as well as of the educational experience of foreign students in the Russian-speaking environment of a Russian university. The results showed that foreign students really realize their specific experience, highly appreciate it, despite the existing difficulties associated with the learning process in the Russian-speaking environment and taking into account the fact that foreign students are now high-tech students, which additionally stimulates them to conditions of adaptation in their new socio-cultural environment. The article highlights the problematic issues that foreign students face when adapting to their new environment, having a significant impact on their level of satisfaction with their studies. The material presented in this article is aimed at a better understanding of the causes or factors affecting the dropout of foreign students.
