Abstract:

The article presents the results of the study of further training in hematology, designed with the use of distant learning technologies. Basic tendencies of continuous medical education system are discussed, with implementing distant learning technologies being one of them. It is emphasized that it cannot be replaced by extramural education, due to the peculiarities of hematology. It is pointed out that advanced training programs designed on a modular basis with the use of distance learning technologies require restructuring of the learning process, including the selection of goals, objectives, content, applied forms and teaching methods. Participants of the educational process (teachers and physicians who were studying) reported about their experience as follows. Most of the teachers faced difficulties associated with the volume of educational material, it was noted that the distance format must necessarily be combined with the full-time one. Problems of students' readiness to work with distance learning material (due to different levels of basic preparedness of students) were considered to be the most prominent difficulties. Issues of organizing not only the theoretical, but also the practical part of the course were listed as well. A large number of physicians taking the course, reported that the modular learning technology with the distance learning component allowed them to progress more successfully in their studies, and also helped them to develop such qualities as responsibility, discipline, self-activity and interest in learning. At the same time, 15% of students reported that they preferred the traditional form of advanced training, since distant learning technologies were difficult for them. In this regard it seems necessary to organize additional individual work with the students experiencing difficulties.
